ENG 211 - Literature and the Environment

[GSR] This course explores the vital relationship between literature and the environment, asking how the land has been represented and how changing interpretations of the land have influenced attitudes toward nonhuman nature. The course focuses on writers such as Henry David Thoreau, Edward Abbey, Wendell Berry, Annie Dillard, Denise Giardina, and Leslie Marmon Silko, among others, through a combination of lecture, discussion, and informal and formal writing. 3 Credit(s).

Prerequisite(s): ENG 112   with a grade of “C” or higher.
