ENG 208 - True Crime in Popular Culture

[QR] This course explores the cultural phenomenon fo true crime in literature and other media.  Approaches include true crime’s origins and evolution; its multiple media forms (literature, documentaries, podcasts, blogs, etc.); issues of authenticity and factuality representation based on race, gender, and socioeconomic status; uses and gratifications theory; the ethics of an entertainment form based on human tragedy; and the impact of fan communities from the CrimeCon experience to the citizen detective.   3 Credit(s). 3 Contact Hour(s).
