MTH 342 - Abstract Algebra

Abstract Algebra is the study of various mathematical structures such as groups, rings, and fields. The course content includes the theorems of Cayley, Lagrange, Cauchy and Fermat. Homomorphism theorems for groups. The study of rings will include ideals, homomorphism theorems, polynomial rings, and quotient rings. The study of fields will include field extensions and constructions with straight-edge and compass. 3 Credit(s).

Prerequisite(s): MTH 324  with a grade of “C” or higher.
