Nursing, R.N. to B.S.N.

The Ferrum College RN to BSN Program will utilize experiential and innovative teaching practices in an online platform. The creation of “community” will be achieved by threading connection and interaction across the curriculum. A caring and personalized atmosphere will prepare graduates to provide nursing care through the application of knowledge, theory, evidence, and clinical reasoning. Graduates will be prepared to manage illness and promote, maintain, and restore health for individuals, families, diverse and rural populations, and global communities across the lifespan. The liberal arts foundation upon which this program is based enriches the professional curriculum to help graduates be thoughtful and perceptive, to think critically, to be articulate and capable of working effectively in interprofessional teams, to appreciate diversity, and to be caring and concerned citizens of their community, nation, and world.

Admission to the program requires:

1.Complete a Ferrum College application

Any transfer credits must have a C or better

2. Proof of current unencumbered registered nurse license

3.Submit copies of all official transcripts

4.Minimum cumulative GPA 2.75

5.Students can enter the program at any point in the curriculum on a rolling admission basis

6. Prior Learning Proficiency Credits: Upon acceptance into the Post-licensure BSN program, students who hold a current unencumbered Registered Nursing (RN) license will be awarded up to thirty (30) prior learning proficiency credits for the following:

15 credits: For holding a current unencumbered RN License

3 credits proficiency per year clinical experience: Maximum award 15 credits (5 years)

OR 15 credits proficiency completion of an approved residency orientation program

7. The program may be completed in a minimum of 12 months. The courses are scheduled in seven (7) week rotations.

8. Students must maintain a C or better in all nursing courses.
